Class starts Thursday 2/22/24 at 5pm and runs weekly for 6 weeks total. The final class will be 3/28/24. This class is slightly different in structure than my usual classes. The aim of this class is to target handling ability from the human perspective. Each week we will be looking at different techniques that we may or may not have familiarity with to help further our training knowledge and ability and achieve targeted goals with our dogs. This class will involve a lot of targeting and body awareness work and goals on the dogs part. You are welcome to use your own dog or borrow one of mine for each of the work. We will do exercises like swapping dogs and working with various tools. You will need a clicker and treats for this class. We will also be working with target sticks, target plates, and target mats. All of these can be makeshift found items such as a dowel, a yogurt container lid, and a bath mat. We will also do work with slip leads, but I have enough that you can borrow, if you don't on your own. This class will feature demonstrations of balanced training tools as well. There is no need to use them with your own dogs, I will demo on my own dogs. These demos will not be a primary component of the class, but the goal of this class is to understand the full array of training techniques open to you when you train dogs.
Students can book alternate offerings in place of class enrollment, but monetary refunds will not be issued. Any missed class can be made up at a future session of the same class offering.
