Persis was 8 ounces at birth. She took 90 minutes to revive, but she had a heart beat and she was fighting so everyone at the emergency vet pitched in to give her a chance.
She gained up to 12 ounces before facing horrible GI distress, which ultimately results in scald that cost her the last third of her tail.
She lost weight to below 9 ounces again and hadn't nursed in 36 hours and we could not get her to take supplementation any longer. Theresa and I wrote her eulogy and marked her dead in the pedigree database. And then, she suddenly started nursing.
We introduced solids at 11 days which she took to immediately and she slowly started to gain weight.
She is such a vibrant soul and she will be staying with us until the perfect home walks into her life.
